PREMIER COMMUNICATIONS TO PLACE FIBER-TO-THE-PREMISE IN PLYMOUTH COUNTY

Premier places fiber optic technology in rural areas of Plymouth County – anticipating completion in Spring 2024

Sioux Center, IA. – April 20, 2022 – Premier Communications, the leader in voice, video and data communications services for Northwest Iowa, is pleased to announce plans to install fiber-to-the-premise throughout Plymouth County. This investment is part of Premier’s commitment to provide customers with state-of-the-art communications technology.

The upcoming project will bring fiber optics to approximately 430 miles of rural area surrounding Le Mars and Merrill, along with the exchanges of Struble, Brunsville and Craig. Fiber is a future-proof technology and the best method of distributing crystal-clear digital voice and Cable TV signals and Internet speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second.

This $21 million investment will allow Premier to offer the latest products and services at the fastest speeds. Premier is honored to have received funding from both the State of Iowa and Plymouth County to contribute to this project, allowing Premier to serve an additional 1,300 locations. The project will happen in two phases. Phase 1 will begin with rural Le Mars, Merrill and a portion of Struble in Spring 2022, with the anticipated goal of completion in late 2022. Phase 2 will include Brunsville, Craig and the remainder of Struble, beginning in Spring 2023 with anticipated completion in the Spring of 2024.
