The Road to State Is Heating Up: How to Watch Iowa High School Baseball and Softball in 2026

As Iowa high school baseball and softball teams make their postseason push, fans across Northwest Iowa have plenty to keep an eye on. Here’s how to catch the action, follow the road to state, and make sure sketchy livestream links don't throw you a curveball.

The 2026 Iowa high school state baseball and softball tournaments are both scheduled for July 20 through July 24, giving fans several ways to cheer on their favorite teams from home, on the go, or wherever summer plans take them.

Information in this post is current as of July 9, 2026. Because postseason schedules, brackets, qualifiers, and broadcast details can change quickly, fans should check the official IHSAA, IGHSAU, Iowa PBS, and Bound pages for the latest updates before game time.

What will TV coverage look like?

Tournament partners like KTIV may carry select events. However, broadcast schedules are not finalized too far in advance and can change frequently as the meet gets closer.

If you’re planning to watch on TV, be sure to check local listings closer to the event dates for the most up-to-date information.

The 2026 IHSAA State Baseball Tournament will be played July 20 through July 24.

This year’s tournament sites are:

• Cedar Rapids for Class 4A and Class 3A
• Carroll for Class 2A and Class 1A

Fans can watch the state baseball tournament through the IHSAA. According to the IHSAA, free broadcast and livestream coverage will be available for all rounds.

To watch, visit the IHSAA State Baseball Tournament Central page and look for the “Watch the Action” section. Check local listings for tourney partners as we get closer.

Iowa Girls High School State Softball 🏟️🥎

The 2026 IGHSAU Girls State Softball Tournament will also be played July 20 through July 24 at Harlan Rogers Park in Fort Dodge.

Championship game coverage will air statewide on Iowa PBS and will also be livestreamed on iowapbs.org and IGHSAU's YouTube.

The championship schedule is:

Thursday, July 23
• Class 2A at 5 p.m.
• Class 4A at 7 p.m.

Friday, July 24
• Class 1A at 2:30 p.m.
• Class 3A at 5 p.m.
• Class 5A at 7 p.m.

Coverage and start times are subject to change, so it is always a good idea to check the official IGHSAU and Iowa PBS pages before game time.

Local Teams to Watch 👀

State tournament qualifiers are still being decided as of July 9, but Northwest Iowa has several teams worth keeping an eye on as postseason play continues.

On the baseball side, Sioux City East is one of the biggest teams to watch, holding the No. 1 spot in Class 4A in the final IHSBCA rankings. Other Northwest Iowa-area baseball programs have also been in the postseason conversation this season, including MOC-Floyd Valley, Bishop Heelan, West Lyon, Unity Christian, Hinton and Pocahontas Area.

For softball, ranked Northwest Iowa-area teams include Bishop Heelan, Algona, West Lyon, Hinton and Pocahontas Area.

Because brackets and qualifiers can change quickly during postseason play, fans should check the official IHSAA, IGHSAU or Bound pages for the latest matchups, times and state tournament qualifiers.

Look Out for Fake Livestream Links 🚩

Big games can bring big excitement, but they can also bring fake livestream links.

Before clicking a link that claims to show a tournament game, make sure it comes from an official source, such as the IHSAA, IGHSAU, Iowa PBS, Bound, or your school’s verified page.

Be cautious of posts that ask you to create a random account, enter payment information unexpectedly, or click through several suspicious pop-ups just to watch.

The safest play? Start with the official tournament pages first.
