Assistant Building & Grounds Supervisor

Office Location: Sioux Center

Premier Communications, the area’s leading telecommunications company with headquarters in Sioux Center, Iowa, is looking for an Assistant Building & Grounds Supervisor to join our team and assist in overseeing the maintenance and operations of the various Premier buildings and surrounding grounds in the communities we serve.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure the ongoing upkeep of buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Assist with the procurement of supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for maintenance and repair activities.
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings and grounds to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, expenses, and inventory.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC system throughout the facility.
  • Schedule and repair inspections and tune-ups for HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor indoor air quality and temperature levels to maintain a comfortable and healthy environment for occupants.
  • Maintain accurate records of HVAC maintenance activities, including service history and warranty information.
  • Field all maintenance requests and ensure all requests are being handled in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Process and document all completed requests and materials used.
  • Record and file all documents, contracts, and payments to external vendors.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • Vocational training or certifications in HVAC, electrical training, maintenance, etc. preferred.
  • Prior experience in building maintenance, groundskeeping, or related field, preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Proficient in operating common maintenance tools and equipment, such as lawn mowers, drills, saws, and hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with coworkers, supervisors, and vendors effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication purposes.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
